Old Split, Split

#2 of 293 in Things to do in Split
Historic Site · Tourist Spot
Walk through the historic core of Old Split to see one of the best-preserved Roman remains in the world: the Diocletian palace. The town joined the list of World Heritage Sites in 1979. Enter the open-air central area of the palace and climb the campanile of St. Domnius cathedral. Enjoy a panoramic view of Split, nearby islands, and Marjan hill. Don't miss the chance to rub the big toe of the giant statue of Gregory of Nin, outside the palace gate, and make a wish. Other sites to see include 12th- and 13th-century Romanesque churches, medieval forts, 15th-century Gothic palaces, and Renaissance and Baroque-style palaces. • We love these Suites and have visited many times. Ivana is a fantastic host...helpful and friendly. The Suites are kept immaculately clean and close to bus stop, restaurants, the Riva and walking distance to the beach.
  • Split is awesome.... but hot!
