Perched hilltop, Barone Fortress represents a fortress built in 1646 to protect against Turkish attacks. Today, overgrown stonework is all that remains, but the view is second to none. Terra-cotta clay roofs dot the horizon, amid the lush greenery of this coastal town. Take in the view from the viewing terrace, or enjoy a picnic on the park benches. Along the footpath to the neighboring fortress watch for remnants of World War II bunkers. Barone Fortress reviews
We were there in the evening and had some vine and cocktails. Both really good with reasonable prices. There was also a concert that evening so we really enjoyed the view and the music. The climb... more »
Nice place to visit if you are in Šibenik, I felt great tasting the local wine in the pleasant atmosphere of the Barone Fortress. more »
It was very interesting. I saw that people were holding tablets and on the screen it was showing them a story or something like that. Unfortunately i don't know why, but I didn't receive one. But without it it was also very good. I have read every sign there was and it gave me a better view in why the fortress was build. I liked the view and there is even a place where you can drink something. It was interesting but it doesn't take long until you've seen everything. There is even a little playground where kids ( or me) can play !
This fortress was a really good history place where u can find out amazing facts about Šibenik's past and if you're hungry or thirsty you can order something from a restaurant standing on the fortress. There is also a really nice souvenir shop with an AC. The family ticket is 160kn. Believe me this is the experience you will never forget!
