Island · Nature / Park
Head out to Cano Island, an island rich in wildlife and history. Located 16 km (10 mi) west of mainland Costa Rica, the island was inhabited in pre-Columbian times, with evidence of a community here including mysterious, hand-carved stone spheres. Take a boat out into the surrounding marine environment to catch sights of breaching whales and dolphins. The coral reefs that surround the island have become known for their biodiversity; you can take a dive into the blue to see manta rays, sea turtles, and white-tipped reef sharks. Take a look at our Drake Bay tour itinerary website to schedule your visit to Cano Island and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • Excellent diving. White tip sharks, octopuses, turtles, and colorful fish. Very good for snorkeling too, my wife snorkeled and saw white tip and a turtle. On the way back saw hump back whales and dolphins. So not necessary to pay for a special humpback whale tour if you will dive.
  • It's pretty similar to Isla Nublar
