Admire Vargas Swamp Lancers, dedicated to the historic battle of Vargas Swamp in 1819. The monument was designed by Colombian sculptor Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt and was inaugurated in 1969, marking 150 years of Colombian independence. View the imposing 33 m (108 ft) tall structure made of bronze, steel, and concrete, which stands on the site of the historic battle. The monument depicts the fourteen lancers that bravely followed Bolivar and captain Juan Jose Rondon into battle.
