Cano Cristales, La Macarena

Must see · Water Body · Nature / Park
Called the "liquid rainbow" river, Cano Cristales draws people from all around with its clear waters and vibrant colors. Various minerals on the bottom of the river cause it to turn green, yellow, brown, black, and especially red. Most travelers embark on a four-day walking tour along the river, which passes multiple waterfalls. You can also go for a single-day tour from Macarena. Test the waters and don your aqua shoes before jumping in, as the river varies a lot in depth and the bottom is rocky. Make Cano Cristales part of your personalized La Macarena itinerary using our La Macarena driving holiday planner.

  • A rainbow fell to earth and landed on this river. It is beyond spectacular. The colors are just amazing. The pure clear water is amazing. We were allowed to swim on a small pool that forms and is not harmful to the plants. Tour guides are very professional and are truly trying to protect this wonder and they are doing a good job. They are also very friendly. We were taken to a night show where local music and dance was the main attraction. It also included food which was pretty good. The hotel was very clean, excellent local food and good prices. All in all, this was a truly wonderful trip. I hope to go back very soon.
  • one of the most beautiful river in the world in my opinion, also called the river of five colours. Inside the crystal clear water, aquatic plants make the river look red and green. The sun brings more effects and some parts of the water can be red, yellow, green and blue. Amazing!
