Admire the largest collection of pre-Hispanic South American gold work in the world at Gold Museum (Museo del Oro). The collection contains 55,000 pieces, of which some 6,000 remain on permanent display, ranging from tiny, intricate jewelry, to large, elaborate sculptures. Alongside the gold treasures, see ancient pottery, carvings made from stone, shell, and wood, and textile handicrafts. Almost all exhibits feature Spanish and English information and descriptions. After browsing the museum, enjoy traditional Colombian food at the cafe, or look for a souvenir in the gift shop. A must go Museum if your visiting Bogota! Great museum full of gold pieces made by the Natives a long time ago. You learn History of Latin America and you see their broad richness in gold and they’re expertise working with it! Bring 1-2 Hours Time to enjoy the Museum at least and learn this Latin-treasure.

Great experience. The museum makes an effort to emphasize how important these sculptures and creations are for Colombian and Pre-Hispanic history. The museum is laid out in a way that let you start with the simplest content, getting more complex as you advance. It is a very nice place and the staff is really polite and helpful. My visit took about 2hm hours and there are descriptions in English and Spanish. Tickets for adults are 4.000 pesos on any regular day, with free admission on Sundays. People over 60 and children under 12 also have free admission.
