Ascensor Reina Victoria, Valparaiso

#6 of 157 in Things to do in Valparaiso
Landmark · Tourist Spot
Ride comfortably on Ascensor Reina Victoria, a funicular railway declared a historical monument in 1998. Opened over a hundred years ago, the hillside elevator was named in honor of Queen Vitoria, the long-reigning British monarch who died in 1901. Works of public art decorate the line's stations, while the summit offers fine views of the adjacent hills. • Loved my tour of this funky city and the funicular are a cool way of moving people up and down the hills of Valparaiso.
  • Good service, waiting time is around 3 minutes. And as everything in Chile, you have to pay for it too. Surprisingly cheap: 100 pesos for trip.
