The cathedral's single Gothic spire pierces the sky at 123 m (404 ft); plans to build a matching partner were never realized. The cathedral played an important role in the development of choral music, with some of the 15th-century masters making their home here as vicars. Consider attending a concert in the chapel to experience the sounds that inspired an entire generation of musicians. Be sure to check out the Rubens painting housed inside; it was returned to its place after World War II.     The cathedral was unfortunately closed for public on 19-20 September 2020, corona prevention measures. So I could only watch it from the outside. Only church attendance was allowed.  more »

    Most beautiful cathedral of the lowlands. One of the younger Gothic churches so therefore allows for lots of light to enter. Two stunning Rubens paintings are the icing on the cake.
