Sovetskaya Street, Brest

#2 of 31 in Things to do in Brest
Scenic Walking Area · Tourist Spot
Walk on Sovetskaya Street along old buildings, new shops, outdoor cafes, and restaurants. This pedestrian promenade is also known as "Brest's Broadway" or simply "the mall." Take note of the gas lamps, which are hand-lit every evening. Look for the big panoramic mural depicting 17th-century Brest. Amenities include an indoor winter garden, the red-brick former town hall, a clock tower, a multiplex cinema, and a shopping center. To experience a bit of the local culture, try on the "lucky boot"--a metal sculpture on a small pedestal--in front of the shopping center.
