Visit the oldest public park in Australia, Hyde Park. From the very early days of the colony, the open area was a top spot for sports such a cricket, rugby, and even organized bare-knuckle fights. Today, it remains an ideal spot for a morning jog or a stroll among fig-lined avenues in the park. The gardens are well-kept and home to approximately 580 trees. There are many monuments to stop and see, such as the Archibald Fountain, the ANZAC War Memorial, an obelisk with Egyptian features, and a monument to Captain James Cook. You can do what the locals like to do, grab a latte, people watch, or read a book on the grass. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Hyde Park and many more Sydney attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Sydney day trip website.

  • What a glorious Park, the first public park in Australia! So much history - if only those stunning old trees could talk! The magnificent Moreton Bay Fig Trees have to be my favourite. This park is beautifully maintained and presented. It has a restful, peaceful ambience. A space beckoning you to sit, rest a while, breathe, enjoy being at peace, before going on with your day. I highly recommend it.
  • Fantastic green space - lungs of the city - that is great to rest in a lunchtime. Check out the Sandringham Garden, Archibald Fountain and Giant Chess Board,. Children-friendly, Wheelchair accessible, Good place to sight Bin-chickens. Best train station is St James. Various bus routes. Best car-parking is Domain.
