Spend a few hours wandering the myriad stalls at Queen Victoria Market, the largest open-air market in the Southern Hemisphere. Originating as a small market east of the city in the 1850s, the market today covers seven hectares (17 acres) in the Melbourne Central Business District. Shop for a variety of food, clothing, shoes, jewelry, and crafts. Make sure you try a hot doughnut from the van that's been operating here for more than 50 years. All round great place to meet the local markets. Showcases Melbourne’s finest. Whether you are going for a great day out with the family or even just a stroll with your girlfriend you certainly can’t look past these markets. I have been coming here ever since I was a baby and have really grown with these markets. If you go my go to are the following: - find the hot jam truck (has been there for decades upon decades ) the most delicious jam donuts you could ever have served fresh and hot daily... line looks long but is not a long wait. - find the bratwurst shop located in the deli section- the most devious sausages you’ll ever have. Make sure you find the original sup as there’s many others that have tried copying. You’ll know as there is a line usually. -Lastly, still around the markets and listen to the amazing musicians floating around and make sure tot tip them and they are very much apart of the vibe.

One of my favourite places! Wonderful for a wander and to take in all the traditional architecture and stalls. You'll always find great produce - be sure to have a look around at the fruit and veg before purchasing... particularly for the more luxury fruits. 😉 If you get a chance, the night market (winter/summer) on a Wednesday evening is always a great night out fab food, fab local businesses and fab atmosphere. 🌟
