Must see · Bridge · Tourist Spot
Take time for a stroll over Suspended Bridge, one of the most recognizable symbols of the city. The historic bridge was completed in 1928 as the city’s first permanent crossing over the Setubal Lagoon, and it wasn’t long before it gained the status of the city’s top landmark. However in 1983, because of a severe flood, the original bridge collapsed, much to the chagrin of local residents. In 2001, the bridge was reconstructed, and today it’s once again an integral part of the city skyline; in fact, the bridge itself offers great views of the cityscape.
