Touted as the widest street in the world, Avenida 9 De Julio cuts through the heart of the city and offers access to some of its major landmarks. The street's name commemorates Argentina's Independence Day, July 9, 1816. Modeled after Champs Elysees, the urban highway boasts seven lanes of traffic in each direction and measures 140 m (459 ft) across.
